Ceiling Panel Installation
Preparation:
- Determine the positioning of the acoustic panel as it will hang from the ceiling. Consider treating main sound reflection points first.
- Be sure the chosen location will allow for four anchor points to attach the panel.
Installation Steps for Drywall:
1. Marking Anchor Points
Using the cardboard stencil with holes included with the panel, mark 4 anchor points on the ceiling. Use a Stud Finder to ensure there are no studs behind the marked positions.
2. Pre-Drilling Holes
With a drill fitted with a 1/2-inch bit, carefully drill pilot holes in ceiling at each marked anchor point.
3. Prepping the Drywall Hooks
Twist nut on drywall hook so that it is near the hook side of threading. Slip on a washer and then twist on a pair of wings to look similar to the image below.
Ensure there is enough of a gap between the washer and the wings (in bent position) to account for drywall thickness. If not, when inserted into the hole, the wings will not expand out properly.
4. Inserting Drywall Hooks
Insert each drywall hook into the pilot holes by pinching together the wings into a bent position and pushing them up through each hole. Wings will expand out and snap open behind the drywall. Tighten the hook by applying light downward pressure on hook and twisting clockwise until the washer is flush with the ceiling. Adjust nut on threading for desired hook height. Be sure to not over-tighten as over-tightening could damage drywall.
5. Mounting the Panels
Attach the D-rings on the backside of the ceiling panel onto the drywall hooks.
Note: For increased length, use Wire and Adjustable Wire Hook by attaching the loop end of each wire to the drywall hook. Then follow steps 2 and 3 of the section below.
Installation Steps for Ceiling Trusses (use Wire and Wire Hooks):
1. When panel location is determined, take loop end of wire and wrap around truss and then pull other end of wire through the loop until tighten on truss.
2. Insert the end of the wire into the top of the adjustable wire hook until the wire comes out the side opening of the Wire Hook.
To adjust length upward, simply hold the end of the wire and lift the Wire Hook upward. To adjust length downward, press and hold down the top button of the Wire Hook to release its grasp on the wire and then pull the hook downward.
3. When Wire Hooks are at desired height, attach D-rings to them. Extra wire can be rolled up and placed on top of panel backing or clipped away using a pair of wire clippers.
